About the Everett

july Fourth Foundation

We are the Everett July Fourth Foundation, a group of dedicated volunteers who are bound together by our shared love for preserving the spirit and tradition of this beloved holiday. Our hearts beat as one, fueled by a deep passion to ensure that each Independence Day celebration is filled with joy, unity, and pride in our community.

As we come together year after year to plan and organize festivities, we are driven by a sense of purpose that goes beyond mere event coordination. We strive to create lasting memories for families, friends, and neighbors alike - moments that will be cherished for years to come. Our commitment runs deep, rooted in the belief that the Fourth of July is not just a date on the calendar but a symbol of resilience, freedom, and the enduring strength of our nation. Join us in our mission to keep this flame burning bright as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and pave the way for a future filled with hope and unity.

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating our nation's independence and bringing our community together. Our committee is working hard to establish a working relationship with the Everett Events Foundation, and we are proud to have Kerri Lonergan Dreke as our Board Chair. Ryan Crowther and Twyla Lucas are also part of our dedicated board members.

History of 4th of July Parade

For over a century, the city of Everett has proudly taken charge of orchestrating the grand annual parade. Starting from 1909, the tradition has endured through generations, captivating both young and old alike with its vibrant displays of community spirit and creativity. From the colorful floats to the marching bands, each year brought fresh excitement and anticipation to the streets of Everett.

The organizers meticulously planned each aspect of the parade down to the last detail. Local businesses, schools, and community groups eagerly participated, showcasing their unique talents and contributions to the city’s rich tapestry of culture. Families lined the sidewalks, waving flags and cheering as they watched the procession pass by, creating a jubilant atmosphere that could be felt for miles around.

Year after year, residents counted down the days until this beloved event graced their city once more. The parade symbolized unity, pride, and goodwill, bringing people together in joyous celebration. With every passing decade, new elements were incorporated into the parade to reflect evolving tastes and trends while still honoring traditional customs that had stood the test of time.

As 2019 marked a significant milestone in this storied tradition, it was clear that Everett’s commitment to continuing this cherished legacy remained unwavering. In 2022, the annual 4th of July Parade in Everett City faces a potential cancellation due to budgetary and staffing constraints, as announced by the city. The past few years have seen the Parade succumb to the pandemic, sparking worries among many that missing this year's event might seal its fate permanently. However, hope is not lost! Scott Bader, former Everett City Council member and parade enthusiast, is taking matters into his own hands. He's rallying a committee with the aim of exploring possibilities to keep this beloved tradition alive. Here's what he excitedly shared with us through an email this morning.

The hope was high, but as things only started rolling in April 2022, it was too late. We may not have had the chance to enjoy the Everett 4th of July parade in, but we're already gearing up for a spectacular event in 2023! A dedicated team is already hard at work planning and we're actively seeking sponsors. Also, although we have the full cooperation from City of Everett, the parade is entirely privately funded, therefore sponsorships are greatly appreciated.
