The Everett parade is a volunteer opportunity to show your civic pride and patriotism for the community and country. To put on a successful parade we need at least 75 volunteers to assist with various tasks.

Barricade

Barricade volunteers help verify proper implementation and placement of traffic control plan, assist spectator entrance into the parade area, and staff the barricades during the parade to maintain a secure and orderly perimeter of the parade area and route.

Volunteer Check-In

Act as a point of reference for incoming volunteers to register, receive t-shirts, learn about their duties and be directed to their respective places. Offer details about the event and supply water, snacks, and lunches when needed. This role involves sitting down and presents a great chance to interact with other volunteers!

Participant Check-in

Gives entries their parade number, gives instructions on lining up and offers refreshments.

Staging Crew

Get the Parade off on the right foot. You will help Parade Day participants find their units, line them up and send them
off!

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER

As a volunteer, you must be 14 years of age or older by the day of the event. Although, if you are volunteering with an organized and supervised group, such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, sporting teams, school, business or church groups, then you are eligible to participate regardless of your age. Don't wait - get involved in the celebrations and join us on the 4th of July in Everett!

An adult (s) will be assigned to supervise, train and coordinate. All questions and concerns should be forwarded to this person.

Documentation of hours for school credits will be signed off by the adult team leader

All volunteers must be registered before July 2 and will receive a volunteer t-shirt.

For those under 18, we ask that a parent or legal guardian completes our Parental Permission Form in order for their assistance to be counted. We thank you in advance for your commitment in helping us make this event a memorable one!

All volunteers must attend one general training scheduled for June 20, 25, and 27 at Carl Gipson Center from 7-8:30pm. Then all volunteers attend our "All-Hands" briefing the evening of July 2 from 7-8:30pm where we will get our final briefing from parade staff and City officials

Teens and Groups

Volunteering in the Everett 4th of July community service program is an excellent opportunity to actively engage with your neighbors. Additionally, we prioritize your safety by providing adult supervision and implementing necessary precautions. As a teenage volunteer, you'll have the chance to explore various roles such as event setup and customer service allowing you to acquire valuable experience and skills that will benefit your future endeavors.

Volunteer Guidelines

Upon completing the registration process, you will gain access to the comprehensive volunteer guidelines and requirements. Below are a few fundamental points to consider:

Code of Conduct: Show respect to all individuals, including guests, attendees, and fellow volunteers. Avoid any form of bias based on age, gender, or ethnicity. Stay composed and rational in any circumstances. Should issues arise, don't hesitate to reach out to a staff member, your team supervisor, or a committee representative for help. Our team is here to support you.

Shift Completion: When your shift concludes and no one has taken over, kindly inform a supervisor and remain in your designated area until a replacement arrives. If this marks the last or sole shift for the event, ensure to consult with your supervisor before departing.

Dress Code: All volunteers are required to wear the designated volunteer t-shirt along with pants, shorts, or capris, and comfortable tennis shoes. The dress code may differ depending on the specific volunteer duties. Additionally, it is advisable to bring a jacket, hat, or sunglasses suitable for the weather conditions.

Attendance: Your active involvement is crucial for us. It is essential that you show up on time for your scheduled shifts. By committing, you are agreeing to be present for the selected shift(s) and stay for the entire duration of the shift.

Weather: Don't let rain deter you from attending our event, as they will proceed regardless of the weather. Your presence is important to us! Please dress appropriately for the forecasted conditions for your comfort. In case of severe weather, volunteers will be informed accordingly.

Placement: Kindly be advised that the Everett July Fourth Foundation retains the authority to reallocate volunteer duties as necessary, taking into account previous volunteer experience, unforeseen requirements, or changes in the event schedule. While we will make every effort to accommodate your initial preference, we cannot guarantee it.

Who can volunteer at the 4th of July Parade?

We welcome enthusiastic individuals who are eager to contribute their time and effort to our fantastic events! However, there are specific criteria for legal and safety purposes.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old on the day of the event they wish to assist with. Nonetheless, exceptions can be made for those participating as part of a supervised group, such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or sports teams.

While we appreciate families volunteering together, it’s important to ensure that non-volunteering children have appropriate supervision during the event, as they and other non-volunteer family members, friends, and pets are not permitted to accompany volunteers during their shifts at any of our events.

Do I need to attend an Orientation & Training Session?

Yes, all volunteers must attend at least one session of orientation and training.

Do I need to attend All-Hands Meeting before the parade?

Yes, all volunteers must attend all hand meeting. Volunteers will receive radio call training and any Everett Police Department concerns we should be made aware of.

On parade day, where should I go first?

Which stop should I use if I am riding Everett Transit?

Everett Transit buses do not run on July 4th.

Which stop should I use if I am riding Community Transit?

Community Transit Blueline Swift will be on Sunday Schedule and the nearest stop to volunteer check-in is Wetmore Ave Station.

How long will I be needed on parade day?

The parade will begin at 11am and conclude by about 1:15pm. We are asking volunteers to plan to stay until at least 2 PM

Will food or beverages provided to the parade volunteers?

Yes, the Everett July Fourth Foundation will provide food and beverages for the parade for the volunteers. If you have any dietary restrictions, please contact our volunteer coordinator at [email protected].

What is the post-parade event?

Yes, you receive an invitation from us after the parade

Am I allowed to drink alcoholic beverages while volunteering?

No, drinking alcoholic beverages while volunteering is prohibited.

Is there a dress code for volunteers?

Committee will provide you a volunteer t-shirt, badge and a safety vest. we ask you please return the safety to the volunteer check-in location.

Who should I expect to hear from after submitting my Volunteer Application form?

Can I choose my preferred volunteer role when filling out the application form?

Yes, you can indicate your preferred roles or areas of interest on the application form.

Do I get a certificate of completion for my work at the Parade?

A recommendation for having completed the assigned work.

Do I have to do a lot of standing, kneeling bending at this assignment?
